But it isn't as simple as walking to an insurer and picking the first plan that catches your eye. You need to settle down and think first - think about your needs and potential needs, and your budget how far you could stretch it to accommodate your needs.

1. Sit down and look at your finances. How much can you spare for your health each month? Or if you're thinking about paying premiums on an annual or bi-annual basis, how much can you spare for it?

3. See whether you're only allowed to be checked on by a specialised network of doctors. If there isn't such a doctor near you, you might be in a soup. If you are admitted to the care of a doctor not under the specific network, you might end up footing your medical bill despite having insurance.

4. It is best that you be wise in your health planning; stretch your financial limit as far as it will go and plan a safe future for your health.
